It is with this attitude in mind that Ricardo seeks to relate to people and the world around him. For Ricardo, any human interaction has the potential to be transformative for everyone involved. Any individual can come out different from any experience – just by making themselves available for it.
Anyone who works with Ricardo hears him say: “We interact with the client to transform and be transformed. I’m also the result of working with my teams, because people bring with them enormous potential to create new realities together.”
This attitude is evident (and more immediate) in the interventions and projects in which he is involved. But he also faces everyday life with this perspective, whether interacting with colleagues, customers, neighbours or strangers. He believes that in a simple exchange or occasional chat between two people, sharing is taking place, not only on a cognitive level but also emotional level. It is where “we give the other a little bit of ourselves”.
When interacting with Ricardo his integrity and ethics are evident as well as the wisdom he transmits, based on his experience and scientific evidence. Ricardo is rigorous in his thought process, promoting an honest rationality in solving problems. His ability to empathize, deeply perceiving the other’s problem by seeing the world through their lens, allows him to help the other in understanding and solving any blockage.
Ricardo genuinely cares about people and is eager to respond to the challenges they present to him. Combined with the characteristics described before, this ability translates into the confidence he conveys, the constant availability to enhance transformation and the creation of effective and appropriate solutions for each person or situation.
His basic training as a family therapist and social psychologist gives him the tools to understand reality and the way people structure their relationship with themselves, with others and with the world.
Having started to publish at age 15—poetry and short stories—he is accustomed to words and is an excellent communicator, pragmatic and assertive. He has a huge passion for the art world – between writing, photography, painting and music – but, when he became a psychologist, his artist’s soul became a side hobby. He recently rekindled this flame by dedicating himself to a personal spoken word project.
Ricardo has a degree in Psychology, in the area of Social Psychology, of Work Organizations, by the Faculty of Psychology of the Classic University of Lisbon, with a master’s degree in Systemic Family Therapy, by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Seville. He uses his skills to help companies change culture, working with methodologies and processes in the areas of Leadership, Change and Culture Management, Executive Coaching, Effectiveness of Management Teams and Innovation.
He is the only person in the world with three globally recognized professional certifications – Professional Certified Coach (PCC) by the International Coach Federation, Certified Management Consultant (CMC) by the Institute of Management Consultants of the USA and Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) by the National Speakers Association USA. He is also a specialist in Social and Organizational Psychology and an advanced specialist in Psychological Coaching, both by the Portuguese Psychologists Association.
